Friday, September 15, 2006 Howard Strong passes away. With much sorrow we announce that Howard S. Strong, Jr. passed away in Nesbitt, Mississippi. His wife was the hostess for the 2004 Reunion in Memphis, Tennessee. He lost his battle with cancer this week.
To view his obituary you can go to this site:
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Tuesday, July 11, 2006 More about our heritage While entering some background genealogy for an update that one of our families sent in I found the following statement: “Sarah Chapman was remarkable for her industry, cheerfulness and gladness of heart in the Lord, abounding in good words and deeds, calling duty a pleasure and work pastime, and scattering sunshine everywhere all along her pathway in life. The memory of the life and love of such a mother is the best of all heirlooms.”
Paul Strong married this woman in April 1800. They were the parents of eleven children (including one set of twins). Their second child died at the age of two and yet she was known for this cheerful spirit.
What a wonderful heritage we can enjoy, and such individual spirit gives a mighty foundation for our very lives.
Thursday, July 6, 2006 Jarvis has moved! Jarvis & Molly have successfully moved into a home that they have waited for about 7 years. It was a thinning out crunch, but they are in their new home. He just e-mailed me to say that he is finally back on line, too! So many connections, so little cable anymore.
Friday, June 30, 2006 Attending the August Reunion We have just signed up for the reunion. It was in the mid 80′s when we attended three (Northampton, Flint and Windsor) We look forward to Aug. and being with Family again.
Carol and Al Mann, John Jr. line.
Thursday, June 8, 2006 Clapp connections I just heard from a Clapp relative still living in England. They contacted the Strong family to offer help if needed for anything in the Old Country!
I was thrilled to hear from them. I am related to the Clapp line through my Ebenezer link.
How exciting to hear from a cousin 400 years removed!

Tuesday, May 23, 2006 Mailing to Strong Relatives Momma (June Brown) and I are putting the finishing touches on the mailing that is going out to the local Strong families and their descendants to promote the upcoming Strong Reunion in Auburn, Indiana. We are getting excited as the date draws nearer and nearer.
However, when Daddy announced yesterday that the date within a couple of months, I admit my palms started to sweat. I tried to quell the panicky feelings that rose to the surface when I pondered the numerous fine details that are still dangling. Oh, well, what’s the worst that can happen? Maybe they won’t let us be hostesses for another one! We’re doing our best to make it a wonderful occasion!
Monday, May 15, 2006 Chardstock Cottage Trips! I have heard from 2 different members that plan to visit the Strong Cottage in Chardstock, England this summer. What an exciting trip. I would love to get some pictures of those trips and will plan to put them up on the web-site. The first trip is planned in July and the second in August. Let me know if any of you are planning the same excursion. It might turn out to be a rather busy summer at the ancestral cottage in England.
Saturday, May 6, 2006 Payment received – It works! Well, we just received our first on-line payment. Everything worked slick. A Tote Bag was ordered and PayPal only kept .88 cents. Considering that is about the price of a phone call or a couple of stamps I think it is well worth it. Quite a great addition to the Family site, I think.
Monday, May 1, 2006 Happy May Day! Our President, Marlene Langbehn has started their trek north from Texas. If you need correspond with her, please use the Minnesota address.
We have tree blossoms everywhere. It’s a little cool, but it is a typical Spring day in northeastern Indiana. When the wind sends the blossoms swirling, however, it looks like a veritable blizzard.
I received an e-mail from Susan Strong. Her husband, Howard is suffering with cancer. A note to that family would be appreciated. He was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and has been taking treatments as his system will allow. It is a rough road.
Haven’t heard from Jim Gilbert in a month. I imagine they are all very tired with the demands of emotions and energy taking their toll. When I called the hospital last week, Gay was still listed in Intensive Care after her transplant. We are still keeping that family in our prayers and will up-date the Family Blog as soon as I hear anything.
